The College is proud to offer The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, affording Participants the opportunity to develop new skills, and expose them to experiences outside the classroom.
Upon entering Year 9, students become eligible to participate in The Duke of Ed. The Award is a global framework for non-formal education and learning, which challenges young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world. Through developing universal and transferable skills, increasing their fitness levels, cultivating a sense of adventure and volunteering in their community, the Award inspires young people to take control, make their own choices and build their own unique programs, helping them to find their purpose, passion and place in the world.
The program comprises three distinct Award levels:
Each level requires participants to engage in activities that corresponds to the four sections of the Award:
Participants are entrusted with the responsibility of arranging their Skill, Service, and Physical Recreation endeavours for the Award. The College facilitates the organisation of the Adventurous Journey component, where Participants embark on a supervised, overnight hike under the guidance of our dedicated The Duke of Ed Coordinator.
Engaging in the Award's activities is an enjoyable experience for Participants, as they are tailored to reflect their individual interests and passions while undertaking the Adventurous Journey component as part of a group, building comradeship and fostering teamwork.
