Welcome

We're excited to highlight some of the programs and initiatives we've implemented this year in our Secondary School to support student wellbeing at the College.

Pastoral Care Framework

Our Pastoral Care Framework helps guide the care and support we provide to our students. Within this framework our focus is on developing three key areas of Student Wellbeing, Character and Community.

Student Wellbeing

Our goal is for every student to understand what it means to lead a healthy, balanced life and to continue developing their social and emotional resilience. In our Secondary School, the Homeroom structure offers individualised care and fosters connections and peer support across different Year Groups.

Wellio

This year, we've introduced a new formalised program into our Homeroom time called 'Wellio.' This program covers a wide range of topics designed to help students navigate life’s challenges and grow personally. So far, we’ve explored subjects like anti-bullying, mental health care, conflict resolution strategies, and understanding your digital footprint.

You can find out more about Wellio here - https://www.wellioeducation.com/en_au/

Character and Connection

Building student character and fostering connections with our community are integral parts of our Pastoral Care Framework. At Arndell, we aim for every student to graduate with a strong sense of identity and a deep understanding of how their actions can impact and influence those around them.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

This year, our Year 8 and 9 Student Representative Council (SRC) has continued to support both our school and the broader community through various fundraising initiatives. They've raised money for Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands and the new Headspace centre in Windsor. The SRC has also led the charge on 'Feed a Family Friday' this term and has been actively promoting mental health awareness in the lead-up to RUOK Day.

Community Service Program

Our Year 9 Community Service Program has also continued this year, with weekly visits to Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands. This program offers our students a valuable opportunity to support a local charity by packing hampers, sorting food supplies, and connecting with individuals experiencing homelessness. We have extended this Program across both Junior and Secondary School with our Feed a Family initiative, where families are asked to donate food items for the hampers put together at Hawkesbury’s Helping Hands.

It has been inspiring to see our students grow through these experiences, fully embracing and embodying the values of Respect, Care, and Service.

School TV

For our parent community, we would like to remind you of a fantastic online resource we have access to at Arndell called SchoolTV. This award-winning resource provides realistic and practical advice for parents on how to raise and support children in today’s challenging world.

This resource includes helpful articles, factsheets and videos on a range of topics including teenage mental health, cybersafety, school survival tips, and positive parenting strategies

I strongly encourage parents to explore this really helpful resource.

Good Luck to Our Year 12 Students

We wish our Year 12 cohort all the best as they approach their final few weeks at the College and advance towards the HSC finishing line. Our advice is to eat well, sleep well, stay focussed and be sure to reach out if you need any further support.

We look forward to celebrating and formally farewelling Year 12 at the Valedictory Service on the 23 September, 2024.
